Conception
Hi my name is Galadriel, my history and education has been in both alternative therapies and midwifery. A few years after having my daughter I got a place at my local university and found my career, vocation; a job where I could make a difference, Midwifery. After finishing my degree I travelled to New Zealand with my family to gain an understanding and acknowledgement of the New Zealand Midwifery Model, which supports women and midwives; I learnt it was one of partnership. I returned to the UK where I worked in London for the NHS caring for a small caseload of women providing their antenatal, birth and postnatal care.
I have since returned home to practice independently and in partnership with women. Whilst travelling I read, "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamant. It is an old biblical tale of ancient womanhood and women's society. This inspired me to create our own Red Tent, a special place. After returning from 'The Big Green Gathering,' festival last year, I began to think more about creating an environmentally friendly business so when I noticed a shop for sale in the village where I live I made an appointment to view. What a perfect place for a community retreat, an awesome venue right in the heart of St Peters village and half a mile from a sandy bay.
